Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Salt Lake witnessed a commotion as job seekers campaigning for upper primary positions found themselves in a confrontation with the police. Subsequently, Bidhannagar police arrested these candidates. On Wednesday afternoon, individuals aspiring for upper primary jobs convened the "SSC Nirman Abhiyan" campaign, organized by the West Bengal Higher Primary Job Candidates Forum stagged protest.
Job aspirants gathered outside the Karunamoyee metro station, carrying pots atop their heads, and staged a protest on the station's steps. A considerable presence of Bidhannagar police was already on-site. When the police requested them to disperse, they declined, resulting in their forcible removal.
Later in the evening, job aspirants initiated a march from Kalighat toward the Chief Minister's residence, pressing for swift recruitment. The procession was interrupted, prompting the job seekers to stage a sit-in at Hazra Mor. Consequently, numerous individuals were detained and transported to Lalbazar, marking a day of intense protest and confrontation.
